Rowley Cottage Kennels is an ERYC licensed facility (ref. 24465), and the licensee is Mrs Nicola Richardson.
An intentionally small boarding facility, with three acres of secure paddocks for exercise, always ensures attentive care and an enriching experience for your dog(s).
Providing a first class service to customers from across East Yorkshire, Hull and Lincolnshire since 2015.
The proprietor, Nicola Richardson, completed her City & Guilds dog grooming training at Bishop Burton College and has a qualification as an Animal First Aider. This was a change in career and lifestyle, having previously worked at Swanland Primary School and the University of Hull. Always having a love for animals, Nicola wanted to take the leap from passion to vocation. Nicola started her new career by opening Sparkle Dog Grooming in Swanland in 2013 and a strong and loyal customer base quickly developed. The family moved to Rowley Cottage in 2015 which enabled the expansion of the business to include a new dog boarding kennel facility and Rowley Cottage Kennels was launched.
Husband James first came to East Yorkshire to study at the University, a good choice as it is where he met Nicola. James and the children all support Nicola in the running of the family business.
We live on site, and it will always be Nicola who looks after your dog and manages the bookings. As there are no ‘staff’ the kennels are closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays and at other times throughout the year.
The boarding kennels opened in 2015 and are licensed by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, meeting the new licence requirements of 2019, and regularly inspected.
We have six individual kennels, each with its own heated sleeping lodge and secure covered run. All bedding is provided and freshly laundered although you are welcome to bring your dog’s bedding (and toys) should you prefer. The dog kennels, six in total, can each accommodate up to two medium sized dogs from the same family.
Adjacent to the kennels is a secure exercise area where the dogs can run and play off the lead. We give the dogs’ regular time out of the kennels and at least four walks in our 3 acres of paddocks each day. As we live on site, we don’t need to put the dogs to bed at an unnecessarily early time. We will also keep your dog’s dietary routine, be it fresh or dry or tinned food, which we’ll ask you to bring along. You can also bring their favourite treats. Any prescription diets or medication must be supplied by the owner, with details of administration.
